I want to know the price
Greetings,
I recently received a reply to a months old attempt at beginning a dialog with the Unsolicited Proposals Office at the DOE. In the hope that descriptions of our “technologies-in-waiting” and informing them that we are only in need of a small grant to pay for 3rd party certification of our continuous algae oil production system or, “Biomass Engine” would be enough to raise an eyebrow and prompt a single question. “How can we help you?” In the response our systems were referred to as “innovative” and “good ideas that should be moved ahead”.
Then the reply from the DOE informed me that because we had already designed, developed and patented the first sealed and continuously harvested PBR known to industry organization leaders, that certification testing (to allow us to issue the press release announcing what we in the algae industry are all hoping to be the first to say. The announcement that algae oil production on a continuous basis at the rate of X gallons/acre/year (reasonable estimates begin at 100,000 gal/acre/year and go up from there) and America’s economic future is gaining sustainable steam by being able to publicly state that de-centralized production including as many thousands of well paying, non-exportable jobs as we can possibly create is genuinely on it’s way.
The reply from the DOE stated “…testing your technology is not in itself a new technology so we can’t assist you.” There is nothing like it when your government asks for something you knew they would need badly, and they turn their back on you after years of lying about their desire to help make this happen for all Americans.
After almost 3 years of being ignored, lied to, and worst of all being refused a remotely competent technological evaluation as demonstrated by the sheer stupidity of this most recent response logic dictates, the UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT including the DOD, DOE and any other agency you can name, CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE ANY REAL INTENTION OF ACHIEVING THE GOALS MANDATED FOR BIOFUELS COMMERCIALIZATION. The USFG usually works very hard to avoid doing such a great impression of the Keystone Cops. Why not with biofuels commercialization? They don’t really want it because BigOil tells them they don’t, which is why there are no politicians or oilmen in Heaven.
Somebody owes me an apology on the front steps of the White House. All we want to do is prove the facts we have known for almost a decade and get on with fixing the economy our government broke. The rest will take care of itself.
Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? I’m sorely disappointed that I am left with no other option but to publicly air this dirty laundry in the mere hope of a valid response from the DOE, because I’m not the problem. I’m one of the answers to the problem the DOE demonstrates they do not want to fix.
